Al Klein joined the firm as a principal in March 2002.
Al specializes in all aspects of labor and employment law.
His practice includes counseling, as well as litigation, in
state and federal courts and government agencies.
Al prepares and revises employee handbooks, company policies
and procedures, advises and counsels regarding discipline
and investigations, sexual harassment and employment discrimination
issues, wage/hour and overtime issues, independent contractor
issues, employee trade secret and confidential information
issues, severance and termination agreements and most day
to day employment issues.
Al began his career at the National Labor Relations Board
and has had extensive experience in dealing with unions, grievances
and arbitrations, collective bargaining and government agency
and civil litigation involving issues with unions.
Al has received commendations for community service from
Governor Gray Davis, Congressman Adam Schiff, State Senator
Jack Scott, State Assemblyman Dario Frommer, Los Angeles
County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, and Glendale Mayor Gus
Gomez.
Al's biography has been listed in Who's
Who in American Law, and Who's Who in California. He
has been quoted on various labor and employment law topics in Newsweek,
Business Week, USA Today, Los Angeles Times,
Daily News, Orange County Register and Los Angeles
Daily Journal.
Al has been honored by being selected to Southern California Super
Lawyers, representing the top 3% of his specialty based on interviews
with lawyers and judges.
Al has won numerous arbitrations and motions for summary
judgment, and has won jury trials where he successfully defended
employers in sexual harassment and whistle-blowing cases.
Al has published numerous articles on labor and employment
law topics and has been a guest speaker before numerous local
and national groups. He has done presentations on negotiated
terminations, sexual harassment, drugs and alcohol in the
workplace and several other labor and employment law topics.
